A candle is solid block of fuel more commonly wax and an embedded wick which is lit to provide light. Candles were created in beginning to control the element of fire and to provide light so that people can see clearly at the night. Mostly candles are made from paraffin but they are also made from beeswax, soy and other plant waxes and tallow. Paraffin and plastic combined to form gel candles. Adding fragrances to candles are used in aromatherapy.
Candles and oil lamps were used before the advent of electricity were used for illumination. Today, candles are used mainly for their aesthetic value and religious ceremonies of many faiths and to particularly set a soft, warm, or romantic ambiance. Scented candles are mainly used in aromatherapy
Ordinary candles are those that have black smoke coming out of it. They are also the ones which leave black soot behind and these ordinary candles are those that are made from paraffin wax. On the other hand, there is another type of candle which burns clean and these candles are referred as natural candles. Natural candles are those which are made using natural wax and other natural ingredients like soy, beeswax, palmwax and jarwax. Sure these candles also have smoke and leave behind soot but their remains are clean and white in color. Natural candles are healthy unlike the ordinary paraffin wax candles which consist of toxins that harm the body.
Among all the natural candles bees wax candle have gain its own popularity. Beeswax is a natural wax which was produced in the bee hive of the honey bees. It is a tough wax made up of several compounds.
Bees wax candle consist of all natural substance made by bees in contrast to paraffin which is a chemical byproduct of the oil industry. The candles made from beeswax burn with the spectrum of the sun emitting a brighter, longer burning flame. It is a well established fact that beeswax candles on burning naturally emit negative ions which clean the air and invigorate the body. Beeswax gets its color and aroma from the honey and pollen packed into each honeycomb cell so the color variation of beeswax candles depends highly on the floral source used for pollination. 100% beeswax is never chemically treated or bleached. Beeswax candles are environment friendly gives a sweet smell and gives a long and bright burning.
Beeswax is used from ages as it has many beneficial and medicinal characteristics. It is used as a skin softener; it is a remedy for dysentery. Although the beeswax candle burns brighter, longer and cleaner than any other candle but what makes it so outstanding? It is the technical facts about beeswax like:
* Its stable chemical formula – C15H31CO2C30H61
* It is insoluble in water -density is 0.95
* Becomes brittle below – 18 C
* Becomes soft and pliable above 35 C to 45 C
* Melting point 65 C (generally wax melts at 149 C)
* Does not deteriorate over time.
